Araz Dare (Torosian)’s Bioghraphy

Araz Torosian , known as Araz Dare (Armenian: Արազ Դարե, born 14 January 1975) is an Armenian-Iranian Musician , Composer, Arranger, Singer and Music Producer, he is graduated from State Conservatory of Armenia  as a composer and he became famous as the singer in Armenia by releasing Ser u Karot duet in 2006 .

 In 2006, he became famous in the Armenian music market by releasing Ser u Karot duet with Arminka, composed by Ara Torosyan (Murzo) and poetry by Anita Hakhverdyan.

He is the winner of the best singer and composer awards in Armenian Music Awards from USA, Russia and Armenia many times. Also he is the winner of the official top 10 Music Awards of Armenia and he has the appreciation from the first lady of Armenia.

Araz Dare was born in an artistic Armenian-Christian family. His grandfather, Raphael Simonian, a church singer, his mother , Astaghik Simonian, singer, his uncle, Onik Simonian, a folk singer (Ashough),  uncle , Vanik Torosian known as Blade 691, a british Rap and Hip-Hop artist, his brother, Argamo Toros, a composer, arranger and saxophone player in USA and the other brother Arin Torosian, a Drummer.

Araz Dare’s artistic name is taken from his grandfather’s name; Dare Mirza Torosian who is a successful, productive and valuable person for Araz and he has been always a role model for him.

Araz was attracted to music since he was a teenager (12 years old), he provided a music instrument with his own efforts and his father’s help. He got a teacher and started to learn music in principle way.

At the same time, he gained some experiences in performance fitted to his age as a musician, composer and singer.

At that time, due to the limitations of music in Iran, he mostly worked and shined as an artist and singer in the Armenian community of Iran.

He formed various groups, such as: Unicorn Band and he gained experience in music recording and performances with his first music master, Haykas Ebrahimi and also with renowned artists of Iran like; Foad Hejazi, Shadmehr Aghili, Gholamreza Moaref, Homayoun Nasiri, Behnam Abtahi and …

He became prominent in the Armenian community of Iran by performing special and different programs on the stages.

Since his youth in Iran, he was invited to perform in the embassies of different countries like Canada and also in official and private events of the British Embassy (with the British ambassador Mr. Nick Brown and his representative Mr. Tim Jones invitation). He also worked as a teacher in the international kindergartens for foreigners and children’s entertaining field.

Since 2000, he has been going to perform with some members of his band in response to requests from Armenian Cultural and Associations living abroad (Europe), countries like: Scandinavia, Kuwait and Arabic countries.

At the same time, he studied music with professors such as Vartan Sahakian in order to improve his music knowledge.

In 2004, Araz Dare heard about the great Armenian musician, Maestro Melik Mavisakalian’s presence in Tehran-Naderi hotel and eagerly he went to meet him; in this meeting, after reviewing Araz Dare’s partitures the master advised him to go to Armenia and enter the music conservatory,. This was the main reason of Araz Dare’s immigration to Armenia in the same year to continue his education.

He succesfully passed the examinations of the state conservatory of Armenia (Komitas) and studied composition with professor Martin Vartazarian and graduated in 2009.

While educating in Armenia in 2006, he became famous and popular by releasing Ser u Karot, a duet song which was a consonance with Arminka.

On his arrival to Armenia, he settled down in Asparez studio in Yerevan and he worked with great artists and musicians of Armenian music market for 8 years from 2004 to 2012. Also he worked as a composer and singer with Armen Toroyan, Ara Torosyan (Murzo), Arman Berberyan, Arthur Binar, David Davtyan (Dadz), Armen Sarksyan (Brde) and David Ogan. The result of this presence and activity in these years is production of pieces named: Ser u Karot in 2006, Mut Yev Luys in 2007, Sirelis (Hreshtak) in 2008, Siro Arevner in 2009, Chem Karogh in 2009, Verjin Ankam in 2009, Sev Spitak in 2010 and Nor Tari in 2011 which was very successful and well received by audiences.

 While he was away from Home, he also produced pieces in Persian for the Iranian music market such as; Raghs e Roya in 2008, Aftab e Eshgh in 2009, Shaghayegh in 2009, Gomshodeh in 2010, Ey Kash in 2012 and Eshgh o Hasrat (duet) in 2013, which all of these pieces were vocalled by himself. Also these pieces were played in famous channels of Iranian music market which introduced him to Persian audience.

He formed his own music band in Armenia which was containing the best and most prominent musicians of the Armenian music market. This cooperation was lasted until 2012 and it has been stopped temporarily when Araz Dare left Armenia and now it is about to be revived again.

The musicians of Araz Dare’s band are: Eric Babayan-bass guitar, Gevorg Charchian-drums, David Davtyan-piano and the leader of the band Arman Berberyan-keyboard, Arthur Soghoyan-guitar, Gholamreza Moaref-percussion.

In 2012, according to destiny he decided to return to his birthplace; Iran.

Since 2013, Araz Dare was not active in the singing field for 6 years until 2018, then he released the song “Fight for Love” after these years.

In 2015, he established Araz Music Studio in Tehran unofficially and worked as a composer, arranger, record and music producer.

Araz Dare (Torosian) is the music writer of many well-known advertisement teasers which were produced in Shabakeh 7-Tehran Agahi company that was founded by Mr. Andranik Khachatourian, and public relations managers were Mr. Mohammad Reza Hayati (News announcer) and Hossein Mehrabani from 1995 to 2002. Also he has experiences in being assistant of music composing for movies.

He also has created and published many works with well-known and emerging singers in composition, arrangement, record producer and music production. He is the composer of soundtracks of some movies too. Collaboration with the best and well-known musicians of the Iran and Armenia’s music market can be seen in his career too.

In the last few years, he has also created and presented some works in the movie field, such as Manjelab which is directed by Rami Mojahed and produced by Mohammad Bajelan and the movie Javab which is directed by Mana Bahrami and produced by Sasan Nematollahi that they are in the process of being released.

His daughter, Brenda Torosian; is a violinist, singer and ballerina who has followed her father’s path in music and now she is studying in violin department at the Girl’s music conservatoire in Iran.

Moral characteristics of Araz Dare :

In art, he emphasizes on nature, content’s value, feelings, details and delicacy in both creation and performance sections and he believes that these elements are the main formation of a valuable and effective work. He loves music and he is very hardworking, strict and exact person. Expressing his feelings in a special way is the part of his personality. Working conscientiously and being responsible in art and culture is very important for him. He believes that art is a holy mission and only people deserve to be in it who believes art is holy, deeply respectful and dear, and also who considers culture as everything. He tries all the ways to reach ideal touch and finally his desired results and he does not pay attention to economic considerations in this way.

He always knows art is in the creation of something that does not exist and eventually turns into art, so he gives great importance to cooperation with new singers and musicians.

-Receiving awards for the best in singing, composing and arranging from valid Armenian music market festivals from Russia, USA and Armenia with his attendance.

-Having appreciation and honor letter from the first lady of Armenia; Bella Kocharyan.

-Winner of the best duet of the year’s award in Armenian Music Awards, Gibson Amphitheater-Los Angeles-USA in 2007.

-Winner of the award for the best duet of the year in Tashir Music Awards at the Moscow Kremlin Palace Hall in 2008 ( with the gift of traveling and recreational stay ship in several European countries).

-Winner of the best singer of the year’s award at the Armenian Golden awards in Alex Amphitheatre of USA and 2 years later (he won a special award for composition and performance of Pak Ughi piece in the social genre of year) at the same festival in 2009.

-Winner of the official top 10 award of Armenia 2 times.

-Receiving the appreciation and graduation certificate from ambassador of Iran in Armenia, Dr. Seyed Ali Saghaian.

-The first rank of the top 20 chart on the PMC Music Channel.
